The Reality – 2nd Trimester Surgical Abortions in NZ

1st Trimester

For the baby, the first trimester is a time of rapid growth and development. The baby’s brain, spinal cord and other organs begin to form, and the baby’s heart begins to beat. The baby’s fingers and toes even begin to take shape.

2nd Trimester

As the pregnancy progresses, the baby now has functioning organs, nerves and muscles, the baby’s eyes begin to move and they begin to hear. During this trimester the baby might be able to respond to familiar sounds and hear its mother’s voice.

3rd Trimester

Fetal development is very advanced during the third trimester. The baby will open his or her eyes, detect light, and practice breathing. The baby will gain even more weight, and prepare for delivery.
